COPENHAGEN
JANUARY 2026
My partner and I have had Copenhagen on our list of places to go for a very long time, and with a 10 year anniversary (and birthday) to celebrate, we thought it would be the ideal opportunity to visit.
It was everything and more we hoped it to be, with the Wed-Sun trip being pretty much bakery-walk-eat-drink-repeat, with some snow, a sauna and a ride along the canal for good measure.
Here are some highlights if you’re heading there anytime soon:
STAY
Kanalhuset
We stayed at this hotel and it is easily one of the top five hotels I have ever stayed in. Right on the cana; and full of character; it’s incredibly homely, offers brilliant breakfasts, a weekday run club, complementary yoga, communal dinners every evening and the most welcoming staff. 100/10.
COFFEE
Hans
Tiny corner coffee shop with top-notch batch
Prolog
A staple dotted around most of Amsterdam
SP Coffee
The little neighbour of April coffee, with one farmer
Sneezing Fruits
A hidden gem - great batch and beers for the train
EAT/DRINK
Grazianos
A tiny, traditional Italian down a quiet residential street, that serves fresh bowls of pasta. I had the best cake I have ever eaten there and many shots of limoncello.
Restaurant Kastellet
Traditional open sandwiches in a homely, tableclothed restaurant, surprisingly right next to the Kastellet.
Melo
A small corner wine bar, that serves wine by the glass, cocktails and nibbles to share. We went here most nights before and after dinner.
ACTIVITIES
La Banchina
Probably the highlight of the trip was booking a private sauna right on the harbour for just under two hours. With regular dips in the ice water and finishing with a g&t with a hearty lunch.
Louisiana Museum
We took a train ride to this gallery, which was well worth the visit. Brilliant cafe (obvs), great architecture and just nice to head out of the city centre.
GO BOAT
An hour trip around the kanal, which runs in the snow and is a fun way to see the city from a different angle.
